rollingPlan Ribbon Tab

Ribbon Tab is the focal point of rollingPlan’s functionality. It can be viewed as a context sensitive set of buttons which allow you to build and modify various tables of the tool, to save and load your Rolling Plans, to calculate your Target Stock Levels, to use Automated Planning, etc.

Buttons and Functions.

Ribbon Tab consists of two Panes (Sections) of Buttons: Rolling Plan, and Constraints. Rolling Plan Pane buttons activate functions related to the worksheets in the Main Group while Constraints Pane Buttons trigger methods when you work on the tables of the Basic Group.

Rolling Plan Pane Buttons:

1. Build Rolling Plan File. This button is enabled when you work on the Main.RollingPlan, Dictionary, or on any non-rollingPlan worksheet. When you click on it, all worksheets in the current Microsoft Excel® Workbook will be deleted, and a brand new collection of rollingPlan worksheets will be created. Needless to say, the tool will warn you many times about expected data losses.

2. Build Rolling Plan Template. This button is enabled while you are on the Main.RollingPlan worksheet. When you click on it, all the data in the Main.RollingPlan will be deleted, and a new template will be built from scratch based on the information stored in the worksheets from the Basic Group, and the Dictionary.

3. Save Plan. This button is enabled while you are on the Main.RollingPlan worksheet. When you click on it, the current Rolling Plan will be saved in the Main.Plans table.

4. Load Plan. This button is enabled while you are on the Main.RollingPlan worksheet. When you click on it, a named Rolling Plan, or part of it will be loaded into the Main.RolingPlan template from the Main.Plans table.

5. Clear Plan. This button is enabled while you are either on the Main.RollingPlan, or on the Main.Plans worksheet. When you click on it, in the first case current Rolling Plan, or part of it will be cleared from the Main.RolingPlan template. In the second case, all data except for column headers in the Main.Plans table will be cleared.

6. Automated Planning. This button is enabled while you are on the Main.RollingPlan worksheet. When you click on it, a Multiple Constraint Planning Method will be triggered, and planning results will be filled into the current Rolling Plan template.

Constraints Pane Buttons:

7. Build Template. This button is enabled while you work either on Main.Plans, or on Basic.WorkCentersAndSkus, Basic.WorkCentersConstraints, Basic.Demand, Basic.OpenStocks, Basic.Param, BasicParamConstraints, or on Dictionary worksheet. When you click on it, a worksheet specific method will be executed. In general, these methods clear all the data, as well as cell formats from the worksheet, copy table specific headers along with their formatting from the Dictionary, and finally build a table specific template.

8. Add. This button is enabled while you work on the worksheets of the Basic group namely Basic.WorkCentersAndSkus, Basic.WorkCentersConstraints, Basic.Demand, Basic.OpenStocks, Basic.Param, or Basic.ParamConstraints. Like above, when you click on it, a worksheet specific method will be started. These methods attach a new set of records to their corresponding tables.

9. Clear. This button is enabled while you work on any of the worksheets in the Basic group: Basic.WorkCentersAndSkus, Basic.WorkCentersConstraints, Basic.Demand, Basic.OpenStocks, Basic.Param, or Basic.ParamConstraints. When you click on it, a worksheet specific method is activated. These methods clear all the data, and cell formats from the columns of the corresponding table, but leave column headers untouched.

10. Calculate Stocks. This button is enabled while you do some work on the Basic.Demand worksheet. When you click on it, a Stock Constraints Calculation method is initiated.
